Lovin’ Those Lashes: Tips For Your Eyelash Extensions

It is absolutely astounding the difference that length and volume makes to your lashes, and well, consequently to your over-all look. We all know what we look like before and after mascara! False lashes are fabulous – make a world of difference in photographs, but unless you are extremely adept at their application, (or have a make-up artist in the wait) they can be time consuming and frustrating. There are also new products that can enhance your lash growth, but beware some fairly scary side effects.

There is another option — Eyelash Extensions. They are a safe, pain free, waterproof, easy to maintain and perfect for vacations or special occasions. You can even work out or swim with them. Available in a variety of lengths, these clusters or individual lashes can be as natural, glamorous or dramatic as you desire. The application requires anywhere from 30 – 90 minutes. They are applied using a specially formulated semi-permanent glue that will not irritate the eye or damage your natural lash. They can safely be maintained year-round. The extensions last through a full growth cycle of your natural lashes, (typically six to eight weeks) but each person’s lash growth varies, so to maintain a full look, fills are recommended every three to four weeks. Half sets of lashes can be a more economical alternative to achieve a similar effect, acting as filler to thicken natural lashes and add length on the outer corners of your eyes.

Caring for your lash extensions is easy! It is important not to pick at your lashes or pull them out yourself. Avoid rubbing your eyes. You’ll want to keep water away from your lashes for the first 12 to 24 hours after application or fills. Water can weaken the adhesive before it is set and cause lashes to fall off. You need to avoid oil-based products and make-up removers. Water-proof mascara is also a no-no as it is hard to remove and can pull off the lashes prematurely. Never use an eyelash curler. The extensions have a natural curl built in so curling them is quite unnecessary. If you do wish to use mascara, use it only on the tips and very sparingly.

And there you have it! The easiest way to have rich, voluminous, beautiful eyelashes!
