The Often Forgotten New Year’s Resolution
The start of a new year brings a fresh start — a blank slate, perfect for starting over. As the masses begin the year with the best of healthy intentions; swearing to shed those extra pounds and quit those hated vices. Let’s bring the idea of health to more than just the usual. Your hair takes quite a beating throughout the year. Here are five tips to keep your hair in its most fabulous healthy state.
1. Know When to Wash
Many people think they need to wash their hair everyday, but washing hair too often can actually dry hair out or weight it down with product. The longer, thicker, curlier and more processed your hair, the longer it can go between washes. If your hair gets oily quickly and you must wash it daily, make sure to use a lightweight shampoo with milder detergents.
2. Always Condition
Always use a conditioner after you shampoo. Conditioners provide moisture for your hair, making it softer and more manageable therefore causing less damage. Only apply to ends and mid-lengths of hair. Use a leave-in conditioner at least once a week and every so often, try these Evo treatments.
The Great Hydrator Moisture Mask: This is an intense hydrating treatment to moisturize and smooth hair; greatly improving manageability. It conditions, adds moisture, enhances shine and reduces frizz. Recommended for dry, frizzy, and colour-treated hair.
Mane Prescription Protein Treatment: This is an intense protein reconstructor to repair and strengthen while encouraging healthy, shiny hair. Specifically designed for coloured, chemically-afflicted, dry and brittle hair, this product helps to prevent hair breakage and colour fading. You’ll notice a vast improvement with every use.
3. Schedule Regular Cuts & Trims
It is often hard to cut off our hair (especially when trying to grow it out) but a regular trim every six to eight weeks is important for healthy hair. Ridding yourself of damaged ends will prevent even more damage from occurring.
4. Choose the Right Products
Buy products specifically formulated for your hair type. Salon products (although more expensive) are created with superior formulas and ingredients. Ask your stylist which products are best for your hair.
5. Keep Yourself Healthy
When you’re eating right, hydrating yourself and exercising regularly your whole body (from locks to lashes) reaps the benefits!
